AllGifts.ie Christmas Survey 2015

Here at AllGifts.ie, it has become an annual tradition to get the views of shoppers on how they will spend their money the coming Christmas. Each year we get some fascinating results!

Christmas seems to arrive earlier each year and therefore so do the Christmas shoppers. This year we discovered that 15% of shoppers will have their Christmas shopping completely finished before December even begins. The traditional last minute shopping on Christmas Eve seems to be a thing of the past with only 11% of shoppers finishing on Christmas Eve.

A surprising statistic this year is the large increase in how much shoppers are willing to spend on their significant other. In 2013 we recorded that on average €133 would be spent on your partner, and €170 in 2014. However in 2015 we saw a  whole 25% increase to €224, good news for all those taken this Christmas!

Each year we ask shoppers what types of gifts they will buy this Christmas. This year Clothing, Cosmetics and Perfume, and Children's toys came out in the top three.
Since our records began in 2012, online shopping figures have remained constant, with 60% of shoppers buying gifts online this Christmas.

For all those self-confessed bad Christmas shoppers out there, we have compiled the ultimate list of Most Wanted Gifts and also the Stay Away Gifts for Christmas. This year we asked shoppers the worst presents they have received and the results were really interesting! As you may have guessed Socks came in at the top position, followed a Jumper, Slippers, Soap and Cheap Perfume. Watch this space for the full list coming soon. The Most Wanted Gifts were a New Phone, Vouchers, Weekend Away, New Car and Jewelry.

With Christmas fast approaching we hope that our survey results will give you a helping hand of when and what to buy your loved ones this Christmas.

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year!

Irish Parachute Club: My Experience

On a sunny September day, the AllGifts.ie team set out for the Irish Parachute Club, Edenderry, Co. Offaly.

The Irish Parachute Club is one of our many Experience Gift Partners available on AllGifts.ie offering exhilarating experiences that must be tried!
Upon arrival we met Fergus and the team at IPC who welcomed us to their fantastic facilities in the Offaly countryside.

On route to IPC I was surprised with how relaxed I was, aware that soon I would be jumping out of plane, however this was to be short lived. Shortly after arrival I met Brian, who was to be my instructor and tandem master.
Brian was a true pro and made me feel relaxed as I prepared for literally the biggest leap of my life!

After a safety briefing, we traveled thousands of feet up and up into the clouds until we reached 13,000 feet. Within seconds of reaching the required altitude I was sitting on the ledge looking out onto the white fluffy clouds.

The next 50 seconds were the most terrifying but also the most amazing 50 seconds of my life. The feeling of floating through the sky looking down on fields after fields was just exhilarating!

Parachuting is definitely something that you need to experience to appreciate! The plane journey up into the clouds is a long and nervous wait, but the reward of jumping is just fantastic. I recommend anyone to challenge yourself to parachuting and once you have done it, you will know just how I feel!

A Day Out at Abbeyfield Farm

On a crisp September morning, the AllGifts.ie team set out on a exciting journey to Abbeyfield Farm, Clane, Co. Kildare. Situated approximately 30 minutes from Dublin, Abbeyfield Farm is a 240 acre estate offering a wide range of activities such as horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, archery and air riffle shooting.

Upon meeting the proud owner Darragh, we headed straight for the horse stables to see some of the fine horses cared for at Abbeyfield Farm. Guided by the three resident dogs we experienced first hand the hard work that goes into looking after these animals.
After suiting up, we set out on a horse riding session through the beautiful fields of Abberfield Farm. Being guided by Darragh and family, we were slowing introduced into horse riding and made very comfortable in our surroundings.

Later in the day after a quick coffee break we headed for the shooting range and was introduced to the archery by Darragh. None of us being experts, Darragh guided us from start to finish helping us master the skill of archery.
Next up was the riffle shooting where our challenge was to hit a number of targets set out on the shooting range. Ranging from easy to difficult we had to train our eye to aim for the targets.

The final activity of the day was clay pigeon shooting. Surprisingly this activity was much easier than initially thought and gave a great sense of achievement when you hit the target. Everyone's competitive side was evident as we all tried to hit the clay as much as possible.

After reflecting back on our day at Abbeyfield Farm I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun day that caters for all ages and abilities. Darragh and his team were welcoming and helpful and really made us feel at home in the Kildare countryside.

Sometimes in life we take things for granted, and that can be true when it comes to appreciating the natural beauty of our emerald isle.  Ireland has an abundance of water sports waiting to be discovered and weather you prefer the calm waters or exploring the sea bed there is something for everyone!

Here at AllGifts.ie we partner with some of Ireland's Best Water Sports organisations and groups, people who have a true love for the water. Together we have developed a number of packages that we feel capture the best that the Irish waters have to offer!

When it comes to surfing there is no more beautiful coastline than Ireland. Many
including National Geographic and the Travel Channel believe the west coast of Ireland offers some of the best surfing beaches in the world. Over looking the beautiful Co. Clare coastline, Lahinch Surf School was established in 2002 by Irish Surfing Champion John McCarthy and has since built a surf school admired throughout the world. Weather you have never stepped on a surf board before or always hunt down the biggest waves, Lahinch Surf School offers everything you need. A personal favourite of ours is the private surfing lesson.
