A Day Out at Abbeyfield Farm

On a crisp September morning, the AllGifts.ie team set out on a exciting journey to Abbeyfield Farm, Clane, Co. Kildare. Situated approximately 30 minutes from Dublin, Abbeyfield Farm is a 240 acre estate offering a wide range of activities such as horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, archery and air riffle shooting.

Upon meeting the proud owner Darragh, we headed straight for the horse stables to see some of the fine horses cared for at Abbeyfield Farm. Guided by the three resident dogs we experienced first hand the hard work that goes into looking after these animals.
After suiting up, we set out on a horse riding session through the beautiful fields of Abberfield Farm. Being guided by Darragh and family, we were slowing introduced into horse riding and made very comfortable in our surroundings.

Later in the day after a quick coffee break we headed for the shooting range and was introduced to the archery by Darragh. None of us being experts, Darragh guided us from start to finish helping us master the skill of archery.

Next up was the riffle shooting where our challenge was to hit a number of targets set out on the shooting range. Ranging from easy to difficult we had to train our eye to aim for the targets.

The final activity of the day was clay pigeon shooting. Surprisingly this activity was much easier than initially thought and gave a great sense of achievement when you hit the target. Everyone's competitive side was evident as we all tried to hit the clay as much as possible.

After reflecting back on our day at Abbeyfield Farm I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun day that caters for all ages and abilities. Darragh and his team were welcoming and helpful and really made us feel at home in the Kildare countryside.
